Back to Basics

I know it’s been awhile since I’ve posted, but the struggle has been so real trying to think of content! As I was brainstorming to figure out what direction I wanted to take with this blog, I’ve realized I was being way too hard on myself! Finding my “blog voice” wasn’t going to happen overnight. It takes time to grow into my blog and find my niche!

So to start things off, I’ve decided to share a collection of things that I’ve been using or reading on a daily basis that can paint a picture of myself. Whether it’d be physical or not, the stuff we consider “our favorites” impact the person we seek to be. So I thought I’d let you take a peek into the mess I call “Emily”.

01 |  My favorite thing in the closet to just throw on & immediately feel “put together”
02 |  Best smelling & softening body lotion my friend recommended me. Awesome fact! Their Shea Butter is purchased from women cooperatives in Ghana to help them build self-sustainable businesses
03 |  Having a cup of this tea a day has been necessary
04 |  My dream spring shoes
05 |  Since I’ve switched to natural beauty products, I’ve never felt so comfortable in my own skin. However, I use this tinted moisturizer to even out my skin tone & keep it hydrated
06 |  The smell mixture of fresh lychees & roses from this perfume has been uplifting my mood
07 |  This magazine with real content & real untouched photos defining the art of being a woman
08 |  The Ultimate Playlist of songs that I can listen & sing to, anytime of day

Welcome to Short + Simple!

Since spring is about a couple of weeks away, I thought what a better time to start my blog! I’ve always wanted to create a place that was centered around the things I love, and be able to share with other people. So I thought, what a better time to start something new! Spring is one of my favorite seasons. (fall tops it!)¬†However, it’s been hard to keep hopeful through the brutal Chicago cold. So I thought I’d start off my post with a little playlist that has been getting me through the transition from winter to spring, and has sprung me back to life! I hope you enjoy and thanks for reading!
